This area is part of the buffer zone of La Amistad International Park. More than 90% of its surface is covered by forests from three distinct ecosystems: lower montane rainforest, premontane very humid forest, and montane rainforest, reflecting its extraordinary ecological diversity. These forests are rich in oak trees and wild avocado trees, a key food source for the quetzal. Thanks to these conditions, it is considered one of the best places to observe this species in its natural habitat, especially during the nesting and breeding season from March to June, along with other birds and forest wildlife. During the tour, visitors venture into areas with minimal human intervention, offering a high probability of sightings and a fully immersive nature experience.
